Key Migration

ID3 can support service transitions such as key migrations

which require end to end knowledge of the platforms, collaboration with the relevant stake holders and development of a procedures to achieve the objective in line with regulatory requirements.

Key migration brings with it one of the largest disruptions a cryptographic estate has to deal with.

The translation of a key from under one master key to another causes significant upheaval to those applications and services that depend on the availability of the keys.

Migration can be forced on an organisation when its master keys are compromised, when a service provider is changed or as in the case of the 2019 Key Block Mandate, when the standards adhered to change the way an organisation protects keys to be used on a specified service.

Service outage is inevitable without planning the necessary resources and expertise

significant outage is a risk no organisation will tolerate.

The organisation facing the task has an obligation to update typically dated procedures in order to satisfy the demonstrative requirements of PCI regulation, make available the relevant stake holder for each given task in order to plan the activity, as well as to support the confidence that its technical teams are up to the task.

  • ID-3 can support service transitions such as key migrations, which require end to end knowledge of the platforms, collaboration with the relevant stake holders and development of procedures to achieve the migration in-line with the business strategy.

  • ID-3 has experience in key migration and understands the requirements for each of the items requisite to the operation; how to technically execute the operation and how to develop documentation to assist in proof of performance to satisfy the standards that need to be upheld during the process.
